Because of it's unique location on the southeastern tip of Chicago, the Whiting Horseshoe Club has a large number of pitchers from Illinois along with Indiana pitchers. The club has six nice courts outside, but the main activities of the club are focused on the four indoor courts that  are busy from September to May  see Whiting Schedule  The club was formed in 1979 by four fellows that wanted to play horseshoes all year round Jim Kuss, Larry Farris, Stan Kalemba and Al Coppolillo. The building the club is housed in is the city of Whiting's old pumping station, rent is free, but we do have  to keep the building and the surrounding property up. Whiting was the site of the 1984 Indiana State Championships. Back in 1984 Walter Ray   Williams Jr. paid us a visit. League nights are Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday is the singles league, pitching times are alternated between the three classes each month so you don't  always have to pitch too early or too late.   Three 40 shoe games are pitched per night with a ringer percent handicap. There are two 16 week seasons see Whiting Schedule   Thursday is the doubles league.
Whiting  is an NHPA sanctioned club.

The club has tournaments throughout the year  see Whiting Schedule and special events for club members. Most open pitching is on Sundays. You are welcome to pitch horseshoes with us.  You may apply for a membership any time. Your application must be approved by the Board of Directors.  Annual dues are $40.00. plus an NHPA card

Does Anyone recognize these pitchers??? From 1984
